James Madison and Sarah Thomasson

James Madison Thomasson was born 20 May 1795 in Henrico Co Virginia, the son of John Thomasson and Alice Morris. He came down the Ohio River in a flatboat with his parents and brother Julius V Thomasson and a number of others and settled in Newport. James M (telling his grandson) remembered that his grandmother was Scottish and spoke the Scottish dialect broadly. He married Sarah Eckert, daughter of Leonard Eckert and Mary Cheshire, 7 July 1818 in Campbell Co.
