James Phillips
Cincinnati Daily Enquirer, 19 March 1847, page 3
A gentleman came into our office yesterday and informed us that
James Phillips, living in Newport, disappeared on Tuesday morning under
circumstances that would indicated that he was drowned.
He was a ship carpenter and came over to his usual work, although he did not feel well. The ferryman says that he saw him come on board, but does not remember to have seen him leave the boat. It may be that he is not drowned and his wife, living in Newport, is anxious to her about him.
He had on when he left home a blue frock coat and striped cassinett pants.
