As the investigation continued Saturday into injuries sustained by James L Keith, 32,of 931 Washington avenue, Newport, a World War veteran, Campbell county Police Chief George Benz said he was convinced the victim was injured in an attempt to halt his estranged wifes flight from her Cold Spring home.

Mrs. Emma Keith told Chief Benz her husband, from whom she had restrained through the court from visiting her home or molesting her, came to her home Thursday night. When he refused to leave, she said she fled to her auto. As she drove away he jumped onto the running board but later fell off. Chief Benz said Mrs. Keiths statements had been corroborated by other witnesses.

Meanwhile, Mr. Keith remained in Speers Hospital suffering from a brain concussion, multiple bruises and flesh torn from his toes. Hospital attendants reported his condition improved. At the time he sustained the injuries, the veteran was disrobed. He was found by police driving his auto along Alexndria Pike near his wife's home at 3 am Friday in a dazed condition.
