RETIRED SOLDIER DEAD-Sergeant James Fleming, 51, retired, died yesterday at St Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, of a complication of diseases.  Fleming boarded at the Clifford Hotel, Ninth and Monmouth streets, for some time, and last week, when he became ill, was removed to the hospital.  He was born in London, England and came to this country when a young man and joined the army.

He was a member of the "Fighting Sixth Infantry" and served with that regiment during the Spanish American War. After completing 30 years service in the Army, he was retired and took up his residence here.  He had a large acquaintance with retired soldiers residing at Ft Thomas.

As there are no known relatives in this country, the body was taken in charge by the soldiers at Ft Thomas and will be buried with military honors.
