PRIVATE CORBIN DROWNED

James T Corbin, a private in Company K Sixth Infantry, stationed at Ft Thomas, was drowned in the Licking River Saturday evening. The First Battalion was at the rifle range, several miles south of this city, and Corbin, in company with Charles Shoemacher, went into the river to bathe. Corbin took a cramp and before his friend could assist him drowned.

The body was recovered shortly afterward and removed to Betz's Morgue on Sixth Street. Dr. Tingley held an inquest over the remains and returned a verdict of accidental drowning. Corbin was 21 years of age, was six feet one inch in height and perfectly developed.

He was well thought of by the officers as a soldier and bore an excellent record while in the army. The remains were this morning taken to the home of his parents at Ellenboro W Va. for burial.
