JEALOUSY
James Collins, who received a bullet in his left side during an
affray at 515 West Front street, Saturday night, died yesterday evening at the
Botts Street Hospital. In a statement made to police he claimed a home on Second
street, between Monmouth and Saratoga, Newport, He said that Saturday evening he
had gone to the house to get a jacket for a young woman, with whom he was going
out with for the evening. When he reached the second floor, August Uttweiler,
his roommate fired four shots at him without any provocation.
He staggered downstairs while the other escaped. Uttweiller has been employed as a freight handler but the police have failed to get any trace of him. He is said to be without money but evidently left the city.

NEWPORT
The funeral of James Collins, who died from the effect of gunshot
wounds inflicted by his roommate in Cincinnati, took place from the residence of
his mother, 124 East Second street, with requiem high mass at the Church of the
Immaculate Conception. Rev Father Donnelly officiating.
The remains were interred at St Stephen Cemetery.
