NEWPORT

The funeral of J H Badger who was shot and killed by a burglar at his home in Southgate Ky. early Wednesday morning, took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence. The funeral was largely attended by the friends of the deceased. The pastor of the Pearl Street M C Church officiated and his sermon was a very touching one.

The pall bearers were Messrs. Charles Bean, W H Krutzberg, W Maderias, John Cropper, W Ulrey and K Koelin. The remains were conveyed to this side of the river and interred in Wesleyan Cemetery. The widow is on the verge of collapse and is under the constant care of physicians.

The man who so cruelly shot down Badger is still enjoying comparative immunity from arrest, though clews have multiplied. There was no abatement in the search for the murderer yesterday but it was not attended with good results.
