Captain William V Spencer, of Lexington, organized a Confederate Camp here in Newport. yesterday. It is composed entirely of ex-Confederate soldiers and was named Camp Corbin-McGraw, after two well-known Confederates who were killed at Johnson's Island. The following ex-Confederates were enrolled; J M Arnold, T M Hill, M R Lockhart, George Washington, James Caldwell, and Charles Bird. They organized by electing M R Lockhart Adjutant General, and James Caldwell Secretary.

Twenty Confederate Veterans will be decorated with the Cross of Honor at Elks Hall, Newport, by the Henrietta Hunt Morgan Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, this evening. Among those who will be honored are General Basil Duke of Louisville, who commanded one of Morgan's brigades; Colonel Rod Perry, of Warsaw Ky. who commanded one of General N B Forrest's regiments; M R Lockhart and James Caldwell, both of Newport, who were privates and Colonel J M Arnold of Carleton's Arkansas Cavalry.
The crosses of honor are made from old Confederate Cannon. Col. James Arnold, of Washington Avenue, Newport, received word from United States Senator Joe Blackburn that his son, James M Arnold Jr. had been appointed a cadet to West Point, to fill the vacancy caused by the dismissal of Gibson Taylor Berry Jr. of Henderson Ky. Berry is a nephew of the senator and was dismissed for smoking cigarettes. Every effort was made to reinstate him but without avail.
The two young men are related and stood the examination together a year ago, Berry being the regular and Arnold the alternate. The latter is highly elated over his appointment and will go to West Point May 1. His father, Col. Jim Arnold, is General Freight Agent for the Cincinnati Southern Railroad.

Colonel James M Arnold, the gallant Confederate veteran, called upon Caleb Powers yesterday at the Newport jail. He told Powers he was convinced of his innocence and was positive that another trial before an unprejudiced jury would secure his acquittal.
Colonel Arnold further told the famous prisoner that he would do all he could toward the effort to set him at liberty.
