County Judge Bennett yesterday sentenced the 12 hobos arrested near the Finch town Railroad wreck, $50 fine and 50 days in jail. They registered as John Mack, Pittsburg; Thomas Wilson, John Connor, John Spendle, James Murray, Louisville; Charles Murray, Bluffton Ind. Ed Frayne, Springfield O. Charles Rothschild, Memphis; Harry Smith, Cincinnati; James Pitton, Allegheny; Ed Coleman, Wheeling W Va. and James Watson, Liverpool O.

The commitment of 12 prisoners to jail for 75 to 100 days means a good thing for the jailor and promises a controversy between Jailor Wagner, of Alexandria and Jailor Tom Taylor of Newport. Legally the prisoners should be turned over to Wagner, but Taylor has them in his possession and it will require a mighty effort on Wagner's part to get them from him.

Judge Bennett says the prisoners must be kept at hard labor and that he does not think the Alexandria Jail is equipped for carrying out the sentence.

The order of Circuit Judge Hodge remanding county prisoners to the Newport jail, made several days ago, caused a clash late Friday between County Jailer Wagner, of Alexandria and City Jailer Dan Veith of Newport, when the former came to remove four prisoners to the County Jail. Jailer Veith refused to turn them over without an order from Judge Hodge. This was refused. Later Wagner secured the assistance of Sheriff Miller and Deputy Sheriff Hindman.

The three went to Veith again and demanded the four prisoners. A heated discussion ensued but Veith still held his prisoners. Jailer Wagner will make a formal application for the prisoners to Judge Hodge.

Matt Wagner, Jailer at Alexandria Ky. for Campbell County, says he is a lucky man. Sunday he started for Alexandria with a bus and discovered his bank roll of $39 missing. He retraced his tracks for several squares and found the money in the gutter.
