James Blackwell, fugitive from the Newport Jail, was captured in Cincinnati and returned to Newport last night by Newport Jailer Charles Wilson. Since Blackwell's escape Jailer Wilson has not ceased hunting for him.

A writ of habeas corpus was issued against Newport City Jailer Wilson this morning ordering him to produce in court at 4 pm James J Phillips. The latter was arrested Monday by Sergeant Burnside.

Owing to a scarcity of prisoners confined in the Newport city jail Jailer C B Wilson petitioned the City Commissioners to raise the rate paid the Jailer for the daily feeding of prisoners. Wilson, at the present time, gets 25 cents a day from the city for feeding the prisoners and declared it is almost impossible to feed them for that price. He asked for an increase of 5 cents a day.

Mrs. Ellen Wilson, 83, widow of A J Wilson, died Monday on Nelson pl. Newport She is survived by three sons, Charles Wilson, Newport City Jailer; William and Walter; one daughter, Mrs. Kaiper and a brother, Capt. George W Prather of Pittsburgh Pa. Funeral Thursday.

Charles Wilson and Fred Young, former owners of The Spot Campbell co. roadhouse will be removed to the federal prison at Atlanta Ga. next week. Wilson, former Newport Jailer, and Young, former Newport city reman (sic) and Republican politician, each were sentenced to serve two years on a charge of conspiring to violate the national prohibition act. They pleaded guilty to all charges against them.
