Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Clifford Wingate, 28 Grand avenue, Ft Thomas, received word their son, Lieut. Jacob Clifford Wingate, was one of the men killed in an airplane crash at Oliver Springs, Tenn. Saturday. The plane carrying Army personnel to Polk Field, Ft Bragg. NC was returning to its base when the accident happened.

The message telling of his death came from Capt. Ray E Benham Jr. commander of Lieut. Wingate's unit, stationed at Polk Field. The latter spent a short leave at his Ft Thomas home early this month before reporting to Polk Field.

Funeral arrangements for Lieut. Wingate, who was a member of St John Evangelical Congregational Church, Newport, are being completed by Fred A Erschell and Son Ft Thomas.

Military funeral services for Lt. Jacob C Wingate Jr. 22, victim of an Army plane crash Saturday at Oliver Springs Tenn. will be conducted Friday at 2 pm at the Fred A Erschell & Son funeral home, Ft Thomas. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

The body arrived in Ft Thomas Wednesday night with military escort. Beside Lt. Wingate, 10 others died in the crash which occurred when the plane was returning to its base. Trained at Kelly Field Tex. Lt Wingate was a four star graduate. He was killed on the anniversary of his enlistment. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J C Wingate, 28 South Grand Avenue, Ft Thomas.
