Jacob Thies, 80, veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday at the home of his brother in law, Fred Schnocke, 204 West Seventh st. Newport. The decedent fought through the Civil War for the Union and was the oldest member of the GAR Post in Newport. The funeral will take place tomorrow and interment will be made at Evergreen Cemetery.
