Jacob
Marqua
Kentucky Post, Thursday, 15 June 1905, page 5
The injuries received by Jacob Marqua, who was found lying unconscious on the Alexandria pike Tuesday night, resulted fatally, his death occurring yesterday at Speers Hospital. The supposition is the aged man received his injuries by being run down by an automobile. The $66 in pension money that Marqua was known to have received Tuesday has also been accounted for, so there was no motive for waylaying him for the purpose of robbery.
The numerous injuries on Marqua’s body convinced Coroner Higgins the man had been struck by some vehicle and the person had not stopped to ascertain the extent of the victims injuries. Chief McCredle of the Highland Police interview M. De Jaco, who said Marqua arrived at his place shortly after 7 pm and remained there until 9 pm. An effort is being made by authorities to ascertain if possible the name of the driver who ran Marqua down.
