Funeral services for Hugh J McKeown, 81, pioneer manufacturer, who died Tuesday afternoon at his home, 833 Monroe st. Newport, will be held Friday morning with requiem mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. McKeown was born in New York City and came to Newport when a youth. He went to work in Cincinnati and soon formed the firm, H J McKeown Co. manufacturers of hoisting engines. He retired from this firm several years ago.

During the Civil War he was a member of the Union forces and participated in the battle of Bull Run. Four sons and three daughters survive. The body will be buried in St Stephen Cemetery.
