Howard Nelson Martin, 26, World War veteran, is being sought by northern Kentucky police for the alleged kinapping of his son, Edward, 2, Saturday night. The alleged kidnapping writes another chapter in the marital troubles of Mrs. Elsie Martin, 22, who lives with her mother, Mrs. Herweb, 514 York st. Newport. Police say she was shot by Martin March 19 and was released several days ago from St Mary Hospital, Cincinnati.

Martin was released from the Hamilton co. Ohio, jail Friday under $300 bond in connection with the shooting. With Edward Herweh, Martin took the child to the Strand Theater, Newport, Saturday night. While the show was in progress, he left the theater telling Herweh he intended giving the child a drink of water. He failed to return. Police say Heweh told them that Martin gave him a note to deliver to Mrs. Martin.

Police say the note said Martin was going to take Edward to Altamont Hospital, Ft Thomas. Martin who is a World War veteran, was formerly a patient of that hospital. Phone calls to the hospital failed to reveal any trace of the missing pair. The boy was not brought there, hospital attaches said. Police believe Martin may have taken the child to Indianapolis, Ind. the home of his mother.
