HOWARD EVERETT BAKER

 

Howard Everett Baker, son of the late James H and Anna A Baker, was born Dec 7, 1888 and passed away Jan 28, 1941, age 52 years, 1 month and 21 days.  He was married to Maud V Hulley on Nov 6, 1915.  They have one son, Harold Edgar, age 9.  He united with the Grants Lick Baptist Church in early youth and remained a true Christian and member of his church until his going home to his Lord.  He was also a member of the Grants Lick Junior Order.

Besides his companion, Maud Baker and his son Harold, he leaves his stepmother, Mrs. Sarah Baker.  His infant sister, Edith and his moth preceded him 43 and 38 years respectively.  His father James H Baker preceded him 9 months.  He leaves also many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.  He was a loyal and true companion and father.  He was helpful and considerate friend to all who knew him or had business dealings with him.  He was in the mercantile and funeral direction business is Grants Lick for 21 years, in partnership with his brother in law, Elmer Hulley for 14 years.

His funeral was held at the Grants Lick Baptist Church, Jan 31 at 11 AM.  The services were conducted by Rev Leo Drake, pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church of Newport and Rev D P DeHart, his pastor.  The song service consisted of the singing of "Just When I need Him Most" and "When the Night Shades Are Falling".  Mrs. Leo Drake sang as a solo "Death is Only a Dream". Mrs. Erma Smith was at the plane.  The pall bearers were George Fardo, Samuel Gray Jr. Harry Darlington, Franklin Wolf, Henry Herringer and Nathan Casson.  Fryer & Peoples funeral directors had charge of the arrangements.  Interment was in Alexandria Cemetery.
