Portland Ind. May 7-Word received from Marion indicated that the
unknown man killed by a train and buried yesterday afternoon in the potter's
field may have been Herman Bayland, at one time a resident of Clifton, near
Newport, who served in Company A of the Ninth Ohio Volunteers, during the Civil
War.
