HIGH-TONED CASE OF BASTARDY-Miss Mary Haldeman caused a warrant to be issued upon yesterday, accusing H Lush Taliaferro, Newport, of being the father of her illegitimate child. The case will come up in the County Court at its next term. We understand that Mr. Taliaferro has been an invalid for the last six or eight years, and is now sick in bed, and he and his relatives and friends claim that this accusation against him is false, and that for the purpose of compelling him t buy his peace, he will resist the case with the utmost vigor.

Mr. Taliaferro is a gentleman of property and is not disposed to submit to the accusation. He has retained F M Webster and R T Baker for his defense, who will be apt to bring out all the facts.
