The following is Newport Officer Todd's report of a week's death: Henry Stevenson, 66.

Henry Stevenson was born 21 Apr 1845 in Carroll Co Ky. the son of John G and Martha Stevenson. He enlisted in the Union Army 8 Mar 1864. The 70th Ohio Infantry Regiment was organized in West Union, Ohio and mustered in for three years service on October 14, 1861, under the command of Colonel Joseph R Cockerill. Henry most likely enlisted in Cincinnati. March 20–21. He was in the occupation of Goldsboro March 24; the advance on Raleigh April 10–14; the occupation of Raleigh April 14; Bennett's House April 26. Surrender of Johnston and his army. March to Washington, D.C., via Richmond, Va., April 29-May 30;

Grand Review of the Armies May 24. The Grand Review of the Armies was a military procession and celebration in the national capital city of Washington DC, on May 23–24, 1865, following the Union victory. Elements of the Union Army of which Henry was a part paraded through the streets of the capital to receive accolades from the crowds and reviewing politicians, officials, and prominent citizens, including President Andrew Johnson, a month after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

The Ohio 90th moved to Louisville, Ky. in June, then to Little Rock, Ark., and duty there until he was discharged 14 August 1865. 

Henry returned to Cincinnati where he met and married Margaret Bisack in 1868. They did not have any children.

Henry died 3 Dec 1911 at 117 West Southgate in Newport of nephritis. This date and place is on the register of deaths for the Newport, Kentucky death records microfilm #7007125. This place is different on his find a grave site.
