Shortly after 5 pm yesterday afternoon while the crowds were returning from Decoration Day exercises at Evergreen Cemetery, some miscreant placed a heavy piece of timber on the traction line near Specht's Station. Car No 231 struck the obstruction and was derailed.
After leaving the rails the car plunged into an embankment. Henry P badger of 29 Court pl. Newport, who was standing on the rear platform, was thrown against the door, bruising his face and knee. George Armstrong suffered a sprained arm. Both are members of the William Nelson Post GAR.

The funeral of Mrs. Otto Zimmerman was attended yesterday by a number of friends at the home Villa Place, Ft Thomas. The order of the Eastern Star attended, the pallbearers being W A Patterson, Samuel Harton, William Morgan, Henry Badger, Percy De Camp and Bert Schifer.

Captain Henry P Badger, 86, a pioneer resident of Newport, who died at his residence, 918 York st. Newport, yesterday. Captain Badger was one of the best liked men in Newport. He had lived here for three-quarters of a century. He was a veteran of the Civil War and has several medals for bravery. He was Post Commander of William Nelson Post No 1 GAR, and was for many years a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church.
Two daughters survive him. Funeral will be held Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church.
Page 2-BADGER, Henry Perkitt died at his home, 918 York st. Newport. Aug 18, aged 86 years. Funeral Monday, Aug 21, with services at the Presbyterian Church at 2 pm. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
