Funeral Services for Mother Walburg Are Held Saturday
Pontifical requiem high mass was intoned Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 12th and Greenup streets, Covington. for Mother Walburg. O.S.B. 83, Mother Superior of St. Walburg’s Academy, Covington. Bishop Francis W. Howard, of Covington, officiated. Burial was in Mother of God Cemetery.
Mother Walburg died Wednesday night following a short illness of pneumonia. Born in Baden, Germany. Mother Walburg, whose name was Helen Saelinger, came to America when 8 years old. She entered St. Walburg Convent when 14, and has been Mother Superior of St. Walburg’s Academy, Covington, for nearly 60 years.
She is survived by a brother and sister, living in Newport, two nieces in St. Walburg Convent and a cousin at St. Louis, Mo.

Mother Walburg Dies in Covington at Age of 83
Mother Walburg, 83, O.S.B., Mother Superior at St. Walburg Academy, 116 E. 12th St, Covington, died Wednesday night of pneumonia. She had been ill since Friday.
Mother Walburg, whose name was Helen Saelinger, was born in Baden, Germany, and came to this country with her parents at the age of 8 She entered St. Walburg Convent, Covington at 14. She succeeded Mother Alexia in 1869, and has been re-elected superior every three years since.
She leaves a brother and sister in Newport, two nieces in the the same convent and a cousin, Msgr. Saelinger, of St. Louis.
