Miss Hattie Metzger, 23, daughter of ex-Councilman Jacob Metzger 705 Fairfield av. Dayton, drank carbolic acid Sunday morning with suicidal intent. Miss Metzger has been despondent for some time and leaving the house yesterday morning, with the threat of taking acid, went down the street. They family at once telephones to the drug stores in the town and describing the girl told them not to sell her the acid.
About 10 minutes later the girl came home and putting a bottle to her lips, drank about an ounce of the poison. Dr. Wagner and Dr. Gould were called and after heroic work, soon had her out of danger.
Miss Metzger was divorced from her husband, William Quinby Jr. last summer after a brief married life and has been despondent since. She will recover.
