Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9am Saturday at the Church of the Immaculae Conception, Newport, for Sgt. Harry J Lawler, formerly of 1145 Isabella street, Newport, who was killed in action on the Anzio Beachhead, Italy, March 3.
Sgt. Lawler leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lawler Sr. and a brother, William Jr. who is with the Seabees. Sgt. Lawler was in the service for approximately 20 months.

Ceremonies marked the installation of officers of the new Lawler-Hanlon Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sunday at the American Legion Home, 22 E Sixth street, Newport. James Whitehead was installed as commander, which was named in memory of T-Sgt. Harry Lawler and S-Sgt Benon Hanlon, two of Newports heroes in World War II.
