Kentucky Post, Saturday, 27 July 1907, page 5
Relatives and friends of Deputy Sheriff Harry Egbert of Bellevue, who was killed in a brawl at Coney Island last Saturday, intend to prosecute those are are allegedly implicated in his death, regardless of what the Coroner's verdict may be. The claim in made it would be difficult to fasten anything on those implicated, owing to the conflicting accounts of the affair brought out at the Coroner's request.
This view is not shared by the widow or other relatives and friends and a conference will be held the forepart of next week to discuss plans for prosecuting his slayer. Sheriff Nagel of Campbell co. it is understood, will not name Egbert's successor until fall, when the courts resume after the summer vacation.
The appointment yesterday of Harry Taliaferro of Newport as a Deputy Sheriff gave rise to this rumor but this is denied at the Sheriff's office. Taliaferro's appointment is only for the purpose of preserving order at two picnics to be given in Campbell co. next week after which is commission will be revoked.
