Harry Brandt, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brandt, of 840 Monroe Street, Newport, was drowned in the Ohio River behind the old bolt works Friday afternoon. He was swimming with companions and was suddenly seized with cramps before any of his friends could go to the rescue.
Thomas Hoskins, a riverman, dragged the river and brought the body out after an hours work. It was taken to Betz and later removed to the home, to be prepared for burial.

The funeral of Harry Brandt, the 13 year old son of Jacob Brandt
of 840 Monroe Street, Newport, who was drowned in the Ohio River on Friday, took
place Monday at 2 pm from the home.
