FORWARD MARCH-The Boy's Brigade of the Presbyterian Church will go into camp next Thursday and try the life of a soldier. The brigade will march to Ross, about seven miles from Newport. The officers in charge will be Captain M Weber, Lieutenants Pirman and Bathiany and Rev J P Whitehead. All members of the brigade are requested to have everything at the church Wednesday evening.

BACK TO AMERICA-Harry Bathiany, a well known Newport boy, formerly Trumpet Sergeant of the Ahlering Guards, KSG, now with the First Regular Infantry, writes that he has been returned from Cuban Service and is now at Ft Leavenworth, Kas. He expects to come home next week on a furlough.

Harry Bathiany, a well known Newport boy, is coming home with the Third Infantry to take station at Ft Thomas, with the rank of Second Lieutenant, having been assigned to Company C. Bathiany has gained the shoulder straps by strict application to military duty and a desire to succeed. He enlisted in the Second Kentucky at the breaking out of the Spanish War and when this regiment of volunteers was mustered out, he re-enlisted.

He was made Sergeant of Company D, First Regular Infantry, and then decided to try for a commission. He passed the examination successfully and got his papers as Second Lieutenant while in the Philippines.

BATHIANY INJURED-Lieut. Harry Bathiany, of the Third Infantry, had a narrow escape from serious injury in a runaway accident at Columbia Arsenal, Tennessee, where he was on temporary duty, on last Tuesday. He was out driving and on nearing a railroad station his horse shied and started to run at breakneck speed. He jumped from the vehicle and was hurled 30 feet. He sustained a few slight wounds.

Under the management of Lieut. Harry Bathiany, a local Newport boy, a theatrical company has been organized from Companies I and K, of the Third Infantry, stationed at Ft Gibbon, Alaska.

Harry enlisted as Sergeant Co D 1st Infantry 22 Nov 1898 and discharged 17 Aug 1901, but re-enlisted. He died 14 Aug 1929 in Walla Walla, Washington and was buried in the Masonic Cemetery.
