Four Campbell county youths passed their preliminary examinations toward Army Flying Cadet scholarships, announced by Fifth Corps Area Headquarters, Ft Hayes O.
Harry Arch Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Walker, of 1101 Park avenue, Newport, graduated from Newport High School in 1937 where he played on the football and basketball teams and was a member of the Varsity Club. He attended Morehead State Teachers College, majoring in economics and history and played football and basketball.

He is stationed somewhere in England. Major Walker enlisted Sep 3, 9141, taking his basic training at Maxwell Field Ala. He graduated a second lieutenant from Lowry Field, Denver Colo. Feb 28, 1942.
He is a graduate of Newport High School and Morehead State Teachers College and was active in all sports and campus activities.
