CITY & NEWS ITEMS-TUESDAY, 23 October 1855-FATAL ACCIDENT

An accident occurred yesterday morning in the southern part of Newport, which resulted in the death of a little girl named Hannah Danstein, the youngest daughter of Frederick Danstein. It seems the child was at the top of the stairs, when she was run against by her brother with such force as to destroy her equilibrium and precipitated her to the foot of the stairs.

Sad to relate, she struck upon her head, dashing her brains instantly out, and scattering them upon the floor in sight of the agonizing parents, whose wails were heard for squares. The little fellow, who was thus accidentally instrumental in his sister's death, is said to be almost insane from its effect upon his nerves. The accident is certainly a most lamentable one.
