Guyville
From Dr. Joseph Donnelly's Genealogy of Ft. Thomas People
The area between Tower Hill Road and West Southgate Avenue was
known as GUYVILLE. At the turn of the century there were three families by
that name living in the vicinity. I know of no Guys living hereabouts in
1964.
The following information was furnished by Walt Lukens (1885-1971). He said also that he remembers two graves with headstones marked "Guy" on what was later the Plyman property between Rossford Avenue and Covert Run Pike. Now Rossford Park and Rossford Avenue continue through to Jamestown Pike at W R Taliaferro's.
In the 1860 census at Jamestown Pike, George W Guy had land worth $4000 (located on Guy Lane now part of Rossford at St. Catherine Church). His son, Nathaniel Guy has no listed land. His son, George T Guy had land worth $1000. W R Taliaferro's land worth $15,000 is shown on the 1883 Atlas as "Mt. Pleasant".
In the 1900 census, George Guy's son John was living with Isaiah Peak at Brooklyn. John Guy is at 260 Mt. Pleasant Avenue (now 1439 N. Ft. Thomas) His brother Isaiah Guy is with his daughter Mollie H and son Welburn, a teacher at 256 Pleasant Avenue. (now 1429 N. Ft. Thomas Avenue)
