NEWPORT
WIFE, FATALLY ILL, IS SENT TO SPEERS
Left by her husband and in the last stages of tuberculosis, Mrs. Charles Goodfriend, 50, of 426 West Fifth-st, Newport, was taken to Speers Hospital last night by Sergeant of Police Burnside.
The woman told Burnside that her husband left her shortly before Christmas last, and she has heard nothing of him since, although she made every effort to locate his whereabouts. She asked the police that the fact that she had been sent to the hospital be published in the hope that the husband would read it and return to her.
