Turners' Meeting-There was a Union meeting held at Turners' Hall
on Tuesday night for the purpose of forming a Home Guard Association.
There were several hundred persons inside and as many outside. The meeting
was addressed by Colonel James Taylor, who made a magnificent speech.
It was also addressed by Major Ira Root and George P Webster. Just before the meeting adjourned the audience struck up the Star Spangled Banner and sung it with most unbounded enthusiasm, at the conclusion of which three cheers were given for the Union.

GRAND UNION DEMONSTRATION IN NEWPORT TOMORROW-There will be a display of the Unconditional Union military companies, or Home Guards, together with the Unconditional Union Clubs and citizens of Campbell County, at the Court house in Newport, Kentucky, on Monday next, at two o'clock PM, at which time a grand procession will be formed, consisting of the afore mentioned companies, Union Clubs and citizens in the following order:
1. The Newport Garrison Band
2. Captain Artsman Company Home Guards
3. Captain Stansberry's Company-Home Guards
4. Jamestown Company-Home Guards
5. Union Clubs and citizens by fours
6. Captain Jackson's Band
7. Captain Jackson's Company-Home Guards
8, 9, & 10-Turner Hall Company
11. Brooklyn Company
12. Other Union Companies
12. Left of the line, the German Turner Rifle Company
The line will form on York street, the right resting on Jefferson and the line of march will be as follows: York street to Williamson; thence to Monmouth; down Monmouth to Jefferson; thence on Jefferson to Saratoga street; down Saratoga to Front; thence on Front to York; up York to Taylor; down Taylor to Cabbot; thence on Cabbot to Bellevue to the Court house square, at which place the troops and citizens will be addressed by Mark Monday, Esq. Oliver W Root, Esq. and John P Jackson, Esq.
Ira Root, Marshal of the day; J T Maphet, First Assistant Marshal, attached to the leading military companies; Jacob Hawthorn, Second Assistant Marshal, attached to the rear military companies; John Raipe, Third Assistant Marshal, attached to civil column in the center. The whole line in command of Captain P T Swain of the United States Army.
