NEWPORT
The reign of terror which two desperadoes inaugurated in the
bottoms by holding up saloon keepers, robbing their cash registers and shooting
at any one who attempted to interfere, came to an end last night.
The police got a tip that the men could be found at Hugh Gosney's saloon on York street, Newport. Six detectives and Lieutenant Bregel, with several police, surrounded the saloon and captured their men after a fight. They were taken to police headquarters, where they were identified by all of the saloon keepers.
