The work of the American Red Cross in World War II will live forever in the history of the nation, Gordon T Jackson, 18 Von Zuben court, Ft Thomas, told the annual meeting of the chapter. Jackson was wounded in the battle at the Anzio beachhead. Mr. Jackson reviewed his trip with the Red Cross across the Atlantic and the landing at Casablanca, then to Orn, Algiers, Tunis, Bizerte, Sicily, Italy and Anzio.

Mr. Jackson said that many times his Red Cross unit made as high as 12,000 gallons of coffee a month. He had seen soldiers eat as many as 24 and 25 doughnuts at one time. Mr. Jackson, who wears the Purple Heart and eight battle starts added: "It would have been impossible to accomplish the work in the battle areas had it not been for the supplies and service furnished by those working in the various chapters on the home front, especially the women, who worked in the production and surgical dressing units."
