NEWPORT

"Ginger" Takes A Tumble-George Pagan Jr. met with a terrible accident while in attendance at the convention at Frankfort and in consequence is now laid up at his home on Park avenue, in a battered condition. He was leaving a committee meeting in the Capital Hotel which was in session until a late hour, and was proceeding upstairs to his room in that hostelry and had reached his room, as he supposed, on the second floor, but all the lights being out, he made a misstep and plunged headlong down a steep flight of stairs. He was picked up at the bottom and at first it was thought he was fatally injured.

A physician was summoned, when after a thorough examination, found his nose broken, his right wrist sprained an also severe contusions about the body. George has a legion of friends, who sympathize with him in his painful experience. The friends of Mr. Pagan who were with him are indignant over the affair and claim that he has good grounds for damages, for the reason that the steps were not properly protected.
