A Ft Thomas youth who threw aside his boxing gloves to "get myself a Jap or German" was dead today the victim of a plane crash near Luke Field, Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moore, 6 Custis avenue, Ft Thomas, were notified Monday by the War Department that their son, Cadet George Moore, 23, had been killed in the crash, the details of which were not given. Mr. Moore is vice president of the Checker Cab Co Cincinnati.

A graduate of Highlands High School, the young cadel, who was 23, had married Miss Margaret Thompson, Norwood O. last February, in Santa Anna Calf. He had been in the service since his enlistment 10 ago at Dayton O. The family recently received a letter from him stating he had only 25 more hours of flying to go before receiving his wings.

Young Moore was an honor student at his training school and would have received his wings Nov 3. A powerfully built athlete, he boxed as a light heavyweight in American Legion tournaments and never lost a bout. He threw aside his gloves in the middle of a training period when eligible for state tournaments.

Ft Thomas Living-October 1943

The body of Aviation Cadet George W Moore arrived at the Radel Funeral Home in Newport Thursday night. The funeral will be held from the residence, 6 Custis Avenue, Ft Thomas on Monday at 2:30 pm. Moore was killed in a plane crash at Luke Field, Arizona, last Sunday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moore, Ft Thomas and the husband of Margaret Thompson Moore.

Moore was a graduate of the Highlands High School, Ft Thomas and was employed by the Ault-Weiborg Co Cincinnati.
