Kentucky Post, Wednesday, 25 January 1905, page 5

The death of George P Wilshire, for many years a prominent citizen and active business man of Newport, occurred yesterday at Greenwich Ct. where he had been making his home for several years past. He was 52 years old and a son of George Wilshire, a pioneer banker of Cincinnati. When the First National Bank of Newport failed, Mr. Wilshire was appointed receiver and wound up his affairs satisfactorily to all concerned.

Mr. Wilshire's wife was Miss Marshall, a niece of the late Congressman Thomas L Jones, of Newport and a cousin of Mrs. Brent Arnold. Three children besides the widow survive the father, two daughters and one son. While no date for the funeral has been arranged, it is understood that the remains will be brought to Cincinnati and interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in the family lot. The news of his death will be a surprise to his many friends and acquaintances in Newport, as it was not known he was not ill. He was in Newport a year ago and at that time, was suffering with Brights disease.

He was injured last summer in alighting from a street car in New York City and it was reported the injury resulted in a paralytic stroke. While a resident of Newport he was interested in the management and ownership of the Addyston Pipe Foundry on East Front st. being the Vice President and Treasurer of the company. After retiring from business in Newport he made his home at the Burnett House, Cincinnati. He served on the Water Works board and Board of Aldermen while a resident of Newport.
