George Wesley of 638 Eighth av. Dayton, is among the first list of wounded reported from the battle front in France, where the American expeditionary forces are in the trenches. Wesley was among those wounded when the Germans made a raid on the trenches right after the first US soldiers had been ordered into the battle line for their first test.

A Dayton boy has been wounded while fighting for liberty and democracy on the battlefields of France with the first United States expeditionary army. Mrs. Walter Miller of 623 Eighth st. Dayton, Thursday received a telegram from army officers at Washington DC stating her brother, George Wesley, 24, had been wounded while fighting in France.

The telegram did not state how the young man was wounded, nor contain any particulars, except the bare statement he was wounded. However, press dispatch state all American wounded men are doing nicely. Wesley enlisted in the United States army about six months ago.
