NEWPORT
Old Citizen Dead-George Tippenhauer Sr. died last night at his
late residence, 431 West Sixth street, after a lingering illness. Chronic
Bright's disease was the cause of death. The deceased was born in Philadelphia
67 years ago and came to Newport when quite young. For over 50 years he has
resided in Newport, having been engaged in the undertaking business and the
manufacture of brick.
For 28 years he was elected to Council continuously. He leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. Schoen, at present in New Orleans. The funeral arrangements have not been completed.
