George Schatzman

Kentucky Post, Thursday, 23 June 1910, page 5

While George Schatzman, well known Bellevue carpenter, was tearing down an old shed yesterday he discovered a hand satchel filled with Confederate money. The satchel was found tucked in between two stones in the foundation and looked as if it were concealed many years. The bills were in a fair state of preservation and sare thought to have been secreted by a Confederate soldier during the Civil War.

There were several thousand dollars in the collection and Schatman was rudely shaken from his dreams of wealth which fitted across his mind when he discovered the satchel.
