George Warren and Effie Ragan
Dr. George Warren Ragan was born 19 Apr 1865 in Kenton Co Kentucky, the son of Eli Ragan and Sarah Elizabeth Carter. He graduated from the University of Louisville Medical Department in 1891, practiced in Cold Spring. He was elected as a State Senator in 1928 and served for eight years. George married Effie Morrison Riggs, daughter of Harvey Riggs and Harriet Strum 8 July 1891 in Covington and they had two children. Effie was born 27 Oct 1865 and died 2 May 1952.
George Warren Ragan built the family mansion
that also housed his medical office on Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring. The home
above to the left now holds the offices of Griffin Industries. The
building to the right has been a recent addition to the business.
Eli Ragan was a pioneer, born in the state 6 Mar 1823, the son of
John Ragan and Elizabeth Harris. Eli married Sarah Elizabeth Carter 18 Nov 1862
in Kenton Co. Eli died 22 Feb 1895 in Kenton Co. John Ragan, son of Spencer
Ragan and Elizabeth Seymour, married Elizabeth Harris 12 Feb 1822 in Fayette
County Kentucky, but is found in the 1830 census in Campbell Co. John
Ragan was born 17 Jan 1797 in Fayette Co Kentucky and died in Kenton Co 21 Aug
1865. Elizabeth Harris Ragan was born 18 Aug 1801 in Virginia and died 8 Apr
1890.
