POWDER EXPLODED-George Moncheon (sic), 14, of 411 West Twelfth Street, Newport, will probably lose the sight of both eyes, the result of an experiment with powder Monday. The boys in the neighborhood had bee firing a cannon all day Sunday and Moncheon had some powder left. Monday morning he dropped a fuse into the can and instantly he was enveloped in flames. He cries attracted the attention of members of the family and the flames were extinguished, but not before he was seriously burned.
Dr. Higgins worked with the boy for some time. His face was covered with powder and it is feared that several grains entered the pupils of the eyd.
