FATHER OF CONSTABLE HAWKINS DIES
George T Hawkins, Sr. 72, retired farmer, collapsed and died
early Tuesday in front of a sister's home in Persimmon Grove road as he was
walking towards the general store of his son, George W Hawkins, Jr. Persimmon
Grove, a Campbell county constable.
The son, who had planned to drive his father to a doctor for regular treatment of a heart ailment, had stopped at the father's home earlier, but the elder Mr. Hawkins was not ready. The store is about four blocks from the father's home, Mr. Hawkins said. Constable Hawkins said his mother, Mrs. Stella Hawkins, died of a similar heart ailment two years ago as he was taking her to a doctor for treatment.
The father collapsed in front of the home of Mrs. Ella Wagner, a sister. His only other survivor is another sister, Mrs. Irene Winnens, Tallahassee Florida. The Muehlenkamp funeral home, Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
