George W Conley
George was born 28 Feb 1838 in Greenup County. Kentucky, son of Carter and Elizabeth Conley. He served as a Union Sgt. in the 27th Kentucky Infantry during the Civil War, from 4 Dec 1862 until 27 Mar 1863. He moved to Newport and worked as a steel worker, called a "pudder", was married to Ellen Beavers in 1865 and died 13 Nov 1907 in Cold Spring. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.
