George H Bishop, former Alderman, Auditor, Councilman and
Lieutenant of Police, who has a splendid record in all city affairs, was named
Thursday night as a member of the Police and Fire Commission and his name was
unanimously confirmed by the Newport Board of Alderman.
At the meeting of the Police and Fire Commissioners James Champ presented his resignation. He stated that his business keeps him often from the meetings and he did not like to miss them.
