NEWPORT
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-A soldier stationed at the Barracks, named
Geo W Edginton, was fined thirty dollars and costs and sentenced to ten days
imprisonment in the City Jail, by the Mayor, yesterday, for throwing stones at
Mrs. Whipps, while she was sitting at her window.
