Frederick A and Mary Jane Wolfram
Information comes from the family files at the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society in Alexandria, various newspaper articles and other records.
Frederick Wolfram was born in Nov 1829 in Germany/Prussia, sailed into New York City, 18 June 1855 from Hamburg, Germany on the ship Elise Rubcke. He immigrated straight to Canada in 1855 where he met and married Mary Jane Taylor in 1856. She was born in England on Aug 1834 and immigrated to Canada in 1855. They then moved to Cincinnati Ohio and then to Bellevue, Kentucky.
Mary Jane Wolfram was a midwife in Bellevue so it only seemed natural that her daughter, Anna would become a doctor.
Dr. Anna Emma Wolfram
was born January 3, 1857 in Canada, the daughter of Frederick and
Mary Jane (Taylor) Wolfram and as early as 1880 was a nurse at 147 Center Street
in Bellevue. She graduated from Women's Medical College in 1895 and was the
first and only woman doctor in the Bellevue-Dayton area. She practiced from 1892
to 1926. She is credited with bringing hundreds of Bellevue children into
the world.
