Specht’s drug store and after buying a lot of poison exclaimed, “Now I will die.
Specht grappled with the fellow and took the poison away. Other druggists warned
not to sell the fellow poison.

Fire originating from a blow torch used by painters set fire to the building owned and occupied by Fred Specht, druggist, at Tenth and York sts. Newport, yesterday and caused damage estimated at $350. The blaze started on the second floor and when the department arrived had gained good headway. It was necessary to run two lines of hose into the building and the stock was considerable damaged by water.

Funeral services for Fred W Specht, prominent Newport druggist, 147 Kentucky Drive, Clifton, will be held at the Fred A Erschell & Son funeral home Newport, Friday at 2:30 pm with Rev Charles J Schaufuss officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Specht was 65. Mr. Specht died at his home Wednesday following an illness of one month.
He was the father of Chief Clifford Specht of the Southgate Volunteer Fire Department and had operated a drug store at Tenth and York streets, Newport, for 45 years. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, a membr of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Besides his son he leaves his widow, Mrs. Florence Specht and one daughter, Mrs. Florence Stacy, Clifton.
