Body identified as that of Fred Kaufmann, 40, druggist of
Eighth and Overton sts. Newport, was found in a ravine back of the
Quartermaster’s office, Ft Thomas at 11 am Monday. It was evident the man had
shot himself. Coroner Digby was summoned. Kaufmann was formerly a Newport City
Commissioner and was prominent in Newport circles.

Newport Masons will conduct funeral of Fred W Kaufmann,
Newport druggist, who coroner’s verdict says took his life with a revolver on
the Ft Thomas military reservation Monday morning. Service will be held from the
late home, Eight and Overton sts. Thursday and in St James Church, Seventh and
Columbia sts. At 2:30 pm. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The widow, who with two daughters, Edith, 11 and Elva, 13
survives, ascribes no reason for the act. Kaufmann had been ill for three weeks
and displayed a nervous temperament.
