CHANCES GOOD-The condition of Fred Diehl, who was shot early Sunday morning in Newport by Caspar Schoo, is somewhat improved today and the attending physicians, Helmbold and Higgins, have not some hope of the wounded man's recovery. Diehl passed a good night and no alarming symptoms have appeared. The chances now are in his favor and he is expected to pull through.

CHANGE FOR THE WORSE-The condition of Fred Diehl, who was shot early Sunday morning by Caspar Schoo, is still critical. He was spitting up blood last night and there is a slight change for the worse. The attending physicians state the wounded man is not means out of danger and the crisis in his case has not yet passed. In Police Court today Schoo's case was called and again continued til Monday. He was remanded to jail without bail. The cases against Emil Diehl, Frank Mersell and Edward Dieckman, who were present when the shooting took place, were also continued.

DIEHL WILL RECOVER-Fred Diehl, who was shot yesterday a week ago and thought to have been mortally wounded, continues to improve and his recovery his now looked for. Casper School, who did the shooting was in the Newport Police Court this morning for a preliminary hearing, but Diehl not being able to be present, the hearing was continued to Wednesday, when it is thought the wounded man will be able to be on hand.
School was remanded without bail. The cases of Frank Mersell, Emil Diehl and Ed Dieckman, witnesses of the shooting, went over til Wednesday.

TRIAL CONTINUED-In the Newport Police Court this morning the case of Casper Schoo, who is charged with shooting Fred Diehl several weeks ago was called and again continued. The date of the hearing was set for May 3. Diehl is out of danger and is steadily improving. Schoo was allowed to go on his present bond of $500.

SCHOO ACQUITED-Attorneys Horace Root and George Ahlering scored another triumph in the Campbell Circuit Court today when the jury in the case of Caspar Schoo, charge with shooting Fred Diehl returned a verdict acquitting the defendant. The case has been on trial for the past two days and was hard fought on both sides and was hard fought on both sides. The jury wrestled with the case last evening and were unable to reach a verdict. Judge Barry allowed the jury to go home, and this morning after resuming their deliberations, they reached a verdict in 30 minutes time.

BULLETS STILL IN DIELH'S BODY-An echo of a shooting affray which took place three years ago in Newport, was brought out tody, when a report reached Police Headquarters that Fred Diehl, who was shot by Caspar Schoo, was in a critical condition at his home, 414 West Eleventh st. from the effects of the wounds received. It seems that the bullets fired into Diehl's were never taken from his body and it is feared that blood poisoning may result. Schoo was tried in the Campbell Circuit Court, charge with the shooting but the jury failed to agree.

DIEHL IS DEAD FROM OLD WOUND-Fred Diehl of 414 West Eleventh st. Newport, died of lung trouble last night at his home. About a year ago he was shot during an altercation with Caspar Schoo, who later was indicted by the Campbell Grand jury. In the trial of the case the jury failed to agree and the indictment was file away. Diehl had been shot through the lung and death was indirectly cused by the wound.
