DAYTON
DEATH OF REV FRED ELWELL-This reverend gentleman expired
yesterday afternoon at three o'clock at his home in Dayton. The deceased was, at
the time of his death, pastor of St John Episcopal Church in Dayton, which place
he has lived for the past several years, during which time he has won the
affection of his congregation and their life long remembrance.
He has five children, all of whom are grown. He was born in England in the year 1801 and was consequently, seventy-nine years of age. The most of his life has been spent as a consistent disciple of Christianity and a laborious teacher of Holy Writ. He received a stroke of paralysis last Sunday while in the pulpit which was the immediate cause of his death.
